June 1, 2022 – Tommy Nobis Center, a Marietta-based nonprofit that helps individuals with disabilities enter or return to employment, has been awarded a $2M grant from the Governor’s Negative Economic Impact Grant program. This funding will provide services for at least 2,000 youth with disabilities in economically disadvantaged, underserved zip codes over the next three years.
“Youth with disabilities have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic,” says Dave Ward, President and CEO of Tommy Nobis Center. “We are pleased that the Governor’s office has recognized the need for these services and the value of the impact they will have on the future of our youth.”
Grant recipients were approved by one of three committees Governor Kemp formed last summer to determine how to distribute Georgia’s $4.8 billion share of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) aid. Tommy Nobis Center was among more than 30 state and local governments, businesses, and nonprofits awarded the funding aimed at easing the economic impact of the pandemic.
